Winter
The Carnival Comes To Town is an Orchestra piece scored for the same instruments as the Egmont Overture by Beethoven. Stylistically the piece is inspired by Dance of the Knights by Prokofiev and the film music of Danny Elfman, specifically his work for the first Batman film. This piece acts as an overture in the sense of a film overture, setting the scene and mood for a larger story. The story is of a boy who runs away with the Carnival. In this scene the boy has been told by his parents that the Carnival is full of dangerous creatures that will eat him, but he pays no attention and sneaks out to see them as they pass through town.
Winter is a piece written for Soprano and Piano. The lyrics are original and were written specifically for the music. Stylistically the piece is inspired by the works of composers such as Schubert, Ivor Gurney and Benjamin Britten. Winter is through composed and is written in the style of a tone poem evoking the bitterness of Winter.
When I worked on the album 'The Other Side' with Kito Peters I composed a string quartet piece for his song 'All These Scars'. This is the instrumental version. You can hear the original here.
The Darkest Of Intentions is a piece for Wind, Strings and Piano. Stylistically the piece is inspired by early atonal composers such as Webern and Schoenberg but does not rely on the methods utilised by these composers such as serialism. It has a freedom of expression closer to composers such as Charles Ives. It is an exploration of challenging rhythmic and melodic ideas set in contrast with one another.

Compositions
I spent three years completing a BA (Hons) in Music at York St John University. During that time I developed a deep interest in Classical Music, particularly the more contemporary side. It has given me the opportunity to work on a portfolio of original compositions that I am adding to all the time. Below are some examples of music I have been working on.
Who Pulls The Strings

Who Pulls The Strings started out as a piano idea. In my mind it was the intro music to some dark series about body farms or plants with scary faces, or maybe the cactus people... I don't know.
