LAURA BARBER
Laura Barber joined the folk club at York University and never looked back! Deciding playing in pubs was much more fun than her classical upbringing, she soon got involved in York’s music scene playing in sessions and forming bands. She currently spends half her week gigging, busking and managing folk rock band Blackbeard’s Tea Party, and the other half teaching instruments around North Yorkshire’s schools.
COLLABORATION
Laura was an invaluable asset to this album. She brought with her a virtuosic style of playing that encompassed folk, gypsy jazz, classical and contemporary, and each part she played was full of melodic hooks or rhythmical counterpoints that complimented the songs. It is Laura that is responsible for much of the textural layering on the album.
